BACKWARD MESSAGES
If you take any section of recorded human speech and play it backwards, the
chances are that you will hear a few clear words, or even entire sentences,
scattered at odd intervals throughout the gibberish.
The more you listen, the more you will hear.
These backward messages will usually talk about the same subject that is being
talked about in the forward speech. If a lie is being told forwards, the backward
messages may speak the truth. They may also reveal secret thoughts and motives.
So what are these backward messages and where are they coming from?
The Beatles said they had nothing to do with it when backward messages were
found on their albums. Born again Christians said it was the work of the
devil when rock and roll records were found with strange cryptic
messages. After a while backward messages were found in regular speech
and the mystery only deepened.
Then in 1996 a new website came on line claiming to have solved the mystery of
these backward messages. The site,
reversespeech.com, said it was another human sense, the voice of the unconscious
mind. We all speak backwards, the site claimed.
Do we really all speak backwards? Is it the unconscious mind speaking?
